2015 Research Faculty Awards – Call for Nominations

Dear Colleagues,

The U-M Office of Research established the Research Faculty Awards to recognize the central role our research faculty plays in the intellectual life and work of the University. Please take a moment to review the criteria for each award listed below and consider nominating your most outstanding and talented research faculty colleagues for the appropriate award.

Collegiate Research Professorship Award recognizes a full Research Professor for exceptional scholarly achievement and impact on advancing knowledge in science, engineering, health, education, the arts, the humanities or other academic field of study with exceptional ability to convey the excitement and significance of scholarship and creative activities to the educated public. The Collegiate Research Professorship is a named award with an annual stipend of $2,000 for the initial five-year term.

Research Faculty Achievement Award recognizes a Research Associate Professor, Research Scientist, or Associate Research Scientist for outstanding scholarly achievements, as represented by significant contributions to an academic field of study over time, a specific outstanding discovery, or the development of innovative technology. Recipients will be awarded $1,500.

Research Faculty Recognition Award recognizes a Research Assistant Professor or Assistant Research Scientist for exceptional scholarly achievements, as evidenced by publications and/or other scholarly activities in any academic field of study. Recipients will be awarded $1,000.

These awards are conferred at the annual Faculty Awards Ceremony and dinner hosted by the President each fall. In addition, each of the Awardees will have a prominently displayed announcement and profile of his or her career and research in a fall issue of the University Record.

To nominate an individual for one of these awards, please submit each nomination as a single PDF via email to Lisa Turek (laturek@umich.edu) in the U-M Office of Research by February 18, 2015. Nominations will be reviewed by the Research Faculty Awards Advisory Committee to evaluate nominations based on the award criteria and provide recommendations. A member of the Awards Committee may contact you directly if additional information is required.
