The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring Program (PAESMEM) seeks to identify outstanding mentoring efforts that enhance the participation and retention of individuals (including persons with disabilities, women and minorities) who might not otherwise have considered or had access to opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). PAESMEM recipients serve as leaders in the national effort to develop fully our human resources in STEM.
PAESMEM is the highest national mentoring award. The award, established in 1996 by the White House, through the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), is administered on behalf of the White House by the National Science Foundation.
