A vast array of electrifying activities that will be enjoyed by every visitor have been added to the lineup of the FIA Formula E 2017 Hydro-Québec Montréal ePrix. This presentation of Montreal It's Electric organised by evenko will set up in the streets of the Ville-Marie borough on July 29 and 30.
Racing simulators, virtual reality, demonstrations of various electric modes of transportation, mini drones, prototypes of all kinds, shows, the Hydro-Québec Family Zone…The table is set for racing fans and for people with an interest in technological advances related to the electrification of transportation and sustainable development.
“The two Formula E races are the highlights of the weekend. But the Hydro-Québec Montréal ePrix offers much more than electric car races,” says Benoit Gagnon, who teams up with former driver Patrick Carpentier as spokesperson of the event. “A series of additional activities that will please sports fans as well as families and people interested in technological discoveries will make this sporting event into a complete weekend of entertainment.”
In the heart of the action: the Allianz eVillage
While the track itself will host many of the highlights of the events – qualifying sessions, the races on Saturday and Sunday, a Roborace featuring autonomous electric vehicles, and a friendly race between Mayor Denis Coderre and Hydro-Québec Montréal ePrix Honorary President Alexandre Taillefer – the Allianz eVillage will be the rallying point for many entertaining activities and experiments, including interactive games and performance challenges. There will also be a fun and educational component showcasing modern issues such as the electrification of transportation.
Stage Zone
The party will begin and end around the main stage every day. Visitors will get to attend the crowning ceremonies of the winners of the two races, who will climb the podium in front of the audience. There will also be dynamic performances by renowned artists like Montreal bands The Damn Truth and Creature, as well as famous DJs such as Autograf, Hotel Garuda, Shash'u, Shay & A Rock, EJ, Yo-C and Fafa Khan. Autograph sessions, BMX demonstrations by experts, and a street dance show will also await visitors.
Hydro-Québec Family Zone
Visitors of all ages will love the Hydro-Québec Family Zone, which will feature a play area, a lineup of interactive, educational and artistic workshops for kids, a picnic area, bumper cars, a giant racing circuit workshop, and for the bravest, a “Free Fall” ride. And let’s not forget about the two Formula E mascots, ACee and DCee!
Game Zone
When you’re talking about video games, you must include auto racing games! Hence, in the e-Sport Arena, a dozen simulators of the urban circuits used by Formula E drivers will allow visitors to test their driving skills. The best player of the day will face off against 10 professional FE drivers in a high-stakes competition. Several other giant auto racing games will be available for amateur drivers.
Inspire Zone
The Inspire Zone will be the meeting place for people who love new technologies. Visitors will not only get to learn more about the latest tech inventions, but also be allowed to test a number of them. Several interactive activities and various demonstrations of the latest advances in terms of urban transport are planned. The “garage” experience will happen in the VR lounge, where hosts will take festivalgoers behind the scenes of FE races thanks to 360 videos (car changes, engine operation, etc.). Visitors will get to watch demonstrations of prototypes of electric vehicles designed and produced by Quebec university students.
Montréal It’s Electric Zone
As for the Montreal It’s Electric Zone, it will allow visitors to try various types of urban electric vehicles such as bicycles and scooters, in addition to presenting all of the electric transportation supply. Furthermore, road tests will be offered by the Electric Circuit and organised by Branchez-vous and CAA Québec, in collaboration with Gouvernement du Québec. Participants will have the chance to try the electric cars that are currently available on the market.
Allianz Explore Zone
The place where exploration will take on all its meaning, with virtual reality experiences, mini drones, games of skill, and augmented reality.
La Brasserie Molson
Hungry or thirsty? The very friendly La Brasserie Molson, with its bistro furniture, giant screens and drink service with views of the track is the place to be.
The Reception Zone will feature a locker rental service, a parking space for bicycles, and the “climate clock,” which will tell it like it is as far as the health condition of the planet goes. Meanwhile, the Relaxation Zone will allow visitors to chill in the shade, in places designed to help them relax.
Thrill-seekers will also be able to stretch their legs by going up the climbing wall.
Hydro-Québec Montréal ePrix: A unique event
Presented at the height of the celebrations of Montreal’s 375th anniversary, the Hydro-Québec Montréal ePrix event will take place in the heart of the Ville-Marie borough, climaxing with the crowning of the winner of the 2016/17 FIA Formula E Championship, which featured races in such major world cities as New York, Paris, Berlin and Hong Kong. The 2.75 km (1.71 mile) circuit will consist of 14 turns and wind its way along Rue Viger E and past Maison Radio-Canada — with the 20 fully-electric Formula E cars launching from the start line on Boulevard Rene-Levesque.
evenko is proud to organize this crowd-pleasing event, which is also the flagship project of the non-profit organization Montreal It’s Electric, whose mission is to promote transportation electrification and its integration into the urban mobility in the metropolitan region.
Racing enthusiasts, the tech-savvy who are interested in sustainable development issues as well as families can buy tickets now on at the affordable cost of $32 per ticket, per day.

About the FIA Formula E Championship:
The FIA Formula E Championship is the world’s first fully-electric single-seater racing series, competing on the streets against the backdrop of some of the most iconic cities - including Hong Kong, Marrakesh, Buenos Aires, Monaco, Paris, New York and Montreal. The championship represents a vision for the future of the motor industry, serving as a platform to showcase the latest innovations in electric vehicle technology and alternative energy solutions. Future seasons will see the regulations open up further allowing manufacturers to focus on the development of motor and battery components, which in turn will filter down to everyday contemporary electric road vehicles. The 2016/17 FIA Formula E Championship sees 10 teams and 20 drivers go wheel-to-wheel in 9 cities spanning five continents in the fight to be crowned Formula E champion. The inaugural season of Formula E sparked into life in September 2014 around the grounds of the Olympic Park in Beijing. The third season of the electric street racing series started on October 9 in Hong Kong and will end  with the season finale double-header in Montreal on July 29 & 30, 2017.
