The History of Lakeside Amusement Park in Photos


For 107 summers, Denverites have been flocking to Lakeside Amusement Park in the town (yes, town! Population: 8 persons) of Lakeside, Colorado. Originally called White City Amusement Park when it opened on May 30, 1908, to a crowd of 50,000, Lakeside Amusement Park has only changed ownership twice during its long history. The Lakeside Realty and Amusement Company, originally led by brewery magnate Adolph Zang, sold the park to Benjamin Krasner in 1935. Mr. Krasner's daughter, Rhoda, owns the park today. Read more.

Worthington Whittredge: An artist's draw to Colorado


Born in Ohio, Worthington Whittredge (1820-1910) studied painting from an early age. As was common for the time period, Whittredge moved to Europe to study and learn from the art of the old Masters. After ten years abroad, Whittredge returned to New York and settled into a workspace at the Tenth Street Studio building in New York, working alongside artists like Albert Bierstadt and Emmanuel Gottlieb Leutze. Obituaries, Cemeteries & the Dead


Obituaries detail the death of an individual. Obituaries provide the deceased name, date of death and disposition of remains. Informative obituaries detail cause and place of death, list of survivors and their relationship to the deceased, biographical facts, employment, social activities and whether the person was a member of a faith community. Obituaries, death, burial and funeral notices along with memorials and notices of thanks from the family may contain any, all or none of the facts about the deceased.
