Hi Folks,
It's been a busy summer here at The Spitz and it's about time we filled you in on what has been going on...

Over the last months, we have continued to visit The Haven and The Grange day centres. The Haven also welcomed us to be the soundtrack to their Carer's Day event where we said thank you to all the carers for their wonderful work.

The summer saw a fantastic injection of new repertoire and instruments into our projects and we were honoured to have Finnish trumpeter Mika Millari step in for a 'guest spot' at one of our workshops.
Jemma's Challenge

On September 5th, Jemma Golby - long term friend of The Spitz - will be taking the plunge into the icy-cold waters of the Scilly isles with the hope of raising a whopping £3000 for The Spitz. As she swims and treks over tough terrain, her journey will take her on a round trip of 25 kilometres.

However it's not all been going swimmingly (sorry)! Last month Jemma had to have an urgent operation on her foot and being able to undertake the challenge was uncertain.
Nevertheless the human spirit is relentless and so is Jemma... One week ago (with only three weeks to the challenge!) Jemma had her first swim since the operation and is now back in the full swing of training.
In hospital
With £945 raised of the target £3000, we are 1/3th of the way there to support Jemma. After her incredible recovery it would be fantastic to give her the additional support of raising the extra £2000 to spur her on. If you would like to make a donation, however small, it would be greatly appreciated.

Don't forget to keep a close eye on twitter to receive updates as we get ever closer...

And good luck Jemma!
EVENT: The Spitz @ Kings Place

On 12th September The Spitz will take a slot in the King's Place Festival. This showcase will give a taste of the antics we get up to in our workshops and feature some of the emerging elder artists who we have been nurturing at the places we visit.

This free event begins at 12:30pm and will be headed by the talented Jay Phelps, Jonathan Gee, Alan Weekes and Ben Hazleton. Expect jazzy favourites and plenty of singing!

We hope to see you there.
Pop Up Shop

After a fantastic 12 months of fundraising, our pop up shop will be closing its doors this October. We still have a lot of stock to sell! So please visit us at 466 Kingsland Road, Dalston... Vintage clothing, vinyls, musical instruments and one-of-a-kind treasures are all to be had in our cave of wonders.

Open: Weds - Sat, 12:00 - 5PM.

Thanks for your continued support. 'Till next time...
