New Global Guidelines for CLTI

On May 31, new global guidelines on the best ways to treat Chronic Limb-Threatening Ischemia were co-published in the Journal of Vascular Surgery and the European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery.
This comes after four years of collaboration between vascular experts from around the world. Co-editors are Dr. Michael Conte (Society for Vascular Surgery), Dr. Philippe Kolh (European Society for Vascular Surgery) and Dr. Andrew Bradbury (World Federation of Vascular Societies).

According to the SVS’ own Dr. Conte, the group created a unique practice guideline that reflects the spectrum of the diseases and the approaches seen worldwide.

Dr. Johnston was recognized for his foundational leadership as a surgeon, researcher and educator in the field of vascular surgery.

Congratulations, Dr. Johnston!

Excellence in Community Service Award to be Presented at Gala

In its inaugural year, the Excellence in Community service award will be presented at VAM during the ‘Vascular Spectacular’ Gala. The below members have exhibited outstanding leadership within their community as practicing vascular surgeons, and are recognized for their sustained contributions to patients and their communities.

All individuals considered for this award must have served a minimum of 20 years as a vascular surgeon, been a member of the SVS for at least 5 years and show evidence of their impact on vascular care or community health.

This year the SVS honors Drs. Richard Lynn, Carlo Dall’Olmo and Joseph Anain, Sr. for their tireless contributions to patients and their communities.
