Wendy Wax Shares One Good Thing

As I write this I’m sprawled on a couch, laptop exactly where it’s supposed to be, beyond happy to be with longtime critique partners and close friends Susan Crandall and Karen White.
Once a year we choose a house with lots of nooks and crannies. Days are spent writing. Evenings we drink wine, binge-watch TV series and movies and inhale the kinds of foods we spend most of the year trying to resist. And, of course, we brainstorm. For ourselves and each other.
Karen, Susan and Wendy (L-R)

It was Karen who first suggested that the ladies of Ten Beach Road share ‘one good thing’ each sunset and Susie who pushes me to go deeper when I’m tempted to skim across the surface of my characters’ lives. My life and my books would not be the same without them.

They are a part of what drives me to write the kind of friendship that gets us through the really tough times. They were there when Madeline Singer, Nicole Grant, and Avery Lawford began to take shape in my mind. And they’ve been there as Ten Beach Road unexpectedly grew into a series.
We’ve read almost every word the other has written. We’ve laughed and cried with each other and held each other’s hands when the going has gotten rough.

Together they are the ‘one good thing’ I’m always ready to toast. Just as I know they’ll raise a glass to ONE GOOD THING when it comes out this spring.

Before you can fix it up, you might have to tear it down…
