Dear Offer Holder,

In just a few short months, life at Trinity Laban, and across the world, has turned upside down. I know that your life will have been uprooted too as globally we have faced the Covid-19 pandemic.

Slowly, a new beginning is starting to come into our sights, and while the challenges are not yet over, we can start to look forward to emerging back into the world. For you, this means joining us at Trinity Laban, where we can’t wait to welcome you into our brilliant community.

I realise that everything still feels uncertain, so I am writing to give you some concrete news about our plans. I want to assure you that we are here to support you now, throughout your degree and into your professional life. Trinity Laban is fiercely committed to developing students to become resilient, innovative and future-focused creative artists; together, we will help to reshape our artforms as they recover from this time.

Plans for Autumn Term 2020
In September, subject to UK government guidance, we will fully re-open the Trinity Laban buildings. Teaching in term 1 will be a combination of in-person and virtual methods. This is to ensure that we can keep you safe by adhering to UK social distancing measures, which are anticipated to last for some time. We are already very used to integrating our teaching and see some great opportunity ahead as we use our knowledge to help you to become an adaptable, digitally literate artist.
Social distancing and hygiene
We will be taking all relevant measures to maintain hygiene, and are working carefully to ensure that our buildings are used in a way that can enable social distancing. Our stunning campuses are one of the jewels in our crown, and we are very excited that they will come alive again soon.
Performance opportunities
Performance is an integral part of our programmes and we will find innovative ways of presentation, building up across the year as social distancing is relaxed. If you haven’t yet checked out the incredible range of digital performance that we’ve produced over the last few months, please do.
Welcoming you
We are working closely with the Trinity Laban Student Union to ensure you get a welcome to remember. Student life will be as rich and active as ever, and you can get in touch with TLSU now to start meeting people. If you are joining us from abroad, we want to help you navigate a safe return to the UK, and we are staying up-to-date with government expectations on quarantine and other entry requirements in order to support you.
Any questions?
We know that this email will raise many questions, so we’ll be sending more detailed information to you on 12 June. As always, you can email us on contact@trinitylaban.ac.uk for support or find out further guidance on our dedicated FAQ pages for incoming students. I am very much looking forward to seeing you in September.
My very best wishes,

Professor Anthony Bowne
