1. JOHN’S RAISE YOUR GAME ACTING EXERCISES
SATURDAY morning 9AM – 11AM
Age – All Ages

Have a blast while learning John’s 3 essential exercises that will raise your acting game!
THE WORD GAME, THE PUNCTUATION GAME & THE SUBSTITUTION GAME will empower your auditions by turning them inside out and getting you to focus less on the lines and more on the story. The games are fun to play and guarantee to give you an edge in the room! John shares his own fun, rehearsal exercises that dramatically increased his booking percentage. His 3 simple games will change your audition life if you invest the time.

Woody Hayes, the former head football coach of Ohio State Buckeyes once said, “It’s okay to out-talent me, but shame on me, if you out-work me! If you’re willing to have fun and out-work your competition, join us!

2. JOHN’S TOP TEN AUDITION TECHNIQUES
SATURDAY Morning 11:30AM – 1:30PM
Age – All Ages

You just got an audition. You may only have minutes to a few hours to prepare. What do you do? John’s Top Ten Audition Techniques will help you simplify the process to help you make clear and dynamic choices. Example: The scene is about your character going on a date. They’re nervous. Do you understand what factors from their past and present are manifesting fears? What are their expectations upon meeting their date? What conflict do they encounter? How will they choose to deal with that conflict? What choices or negotiations must they make? Will they embrace their situation or run for the hills? Will their exit be as dynamic as their entrance into the scene?
The writer intends a journey for your character? How can you, the actor, expand upon it?
Whether on-tape or in-person, John’s Audition Techniques will help you breakdown a scene structurally and emotionally, offering tangible guidelines to follow so that you can create indelible characters, who dynamically go after their objectives!

3. BOOK THE JOB ON THE WHITE OF THE PAGE
SATURDAY afternoon from 2:00PM – 4:00PM
Age – All Ages

Every actor auditioning for a role gets the same script. Think of it as a map, a journey or a destination. How do you want to get there? Take a bus? A car? A train? What is your interpretation of your character and where can you vary from the obvious course that others will mindlessly travel? Too often, actors overlook the moments available to them when they are not speaking their dialogue. Think of your script as a canvas awaiting a vibrant painting! Do you know what brushes and emotional paints to apply? This class will focus on creating compelling moments from what isn’t written, using the white (the canvas) of the page. The black ink on a page of script hardly covers ten percent of that page. Your job is to captivate your audience with what you paint on the other ninety-percent!

4. BOOK THE ONE HOUR PROCEDURAL DRAMA
SATURDAY afternoon from 4:30PM-6:30PM
Age - 16 to Adult

Before you can book a one hour drama, you have to understand your character’s place in it! What is the purpose of a co-star or a guest star versus the series regular? How do you serve the script? Writers only write characters that move the story forward in hopes of grabbing an audience. Do you know how to help build the drama by misdirecting the audience from what’s really happening?
Students will learn the dynamics of popular dramas, their genres and the formulas they follow. Working with scripts from popular dramas, actors will learn what producers are looking for so that you can deliver convincing performances that will bring your craft to a new level and increase your frequency of booking!

 SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH

5. MASTERING YOUR CLOSEUP
SUNDAY Morning from 10:00AM-1:00PM
Age - 16 to Adult

The Close-up shot is essential for telling intimate stories on film. Directors rely on them to further the story and actors need to know how to adjust their performance accordingly for the tight frame. John’s close-up technique will teach actors how to maximize dramatic and comedic moments, make impactful discoveries on the fourth wall (for the camera) and successfully tell personal and impactful stories. These techniques will make every one of your in-person or taped auditions more exciting and powerfully dynamic! We’ll watch exciting moments on film and then try to reproduce them. Get ready to have fun, get inspired and raise your game!
