RDS News - March 2021

Welcome to the eBulletin from the Research Design Service South West (RDS SW), keeping you updated with the latest news, events and communications from the RDS and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

Applying for a Fellowship? Or looking to get into health or social care research? We're here to help

We support researchers to develop applications to the NIHR and other national funders of applied health and social care research. If you have a research idea, we can offer free advice and support to develop your idea into a competitive funding application.

Funding programmes are still accepting applications and opening new funding competitions as normalWhether you are at the very beginning of your research design journey (if you are looking for a suitable funding programme, for example), or if you are one click away from submitting your funding application, we are here to support you. Funding programmes are still accepting applications and opening new funding competitions as normal. Work here at RDS South West is continuing remotely and we are successfully advising clients either via videoconference or telephone, rather than holding meetings in person.

Our Project Review Committee is meeting via videoconference on a monthly basis and provides an excellent opportunity for researchers to obtain a critical review of a proposed grant application before this is sent to a funding body. The committee brings the benefit of seeing the proposal with “fresh eyes”, replicating as far as possible the way the real funding committee will consider the application. Contact us if you would like to submit your project for review.

Events have been moved online and we will be running our next grant applications seminar in July 2021.
