AFGHAN MINISTRY UPDATE

There will be further updates in the future and our church staff and mission's council continues to look for further opportunities.  We want to encourage you to continue to pray and also to support the ministry that our local association, the NorthStar church network is leading.   Below is an announcement from NorthStar:

NorthStar is Partnering with Team Rubicon

NorthStar is partnering with Team Rubicon, a volunteer disaster response organization comprised mostly of veterans, to get needed items for Afghan refugees currently based at Quantico. Team Rubicon is managing the donations for Quantico, among other logistical support.

NorthStar is housing Team Rubicon at the NorthStar Mission Center DC.

We have identified 4 ways you can join us in supporting their efforts:
  1. Donate needed items for the Afghan refugees.
  2. Provide meals for the Team Rubicon volunteers.
  3. Donate funds to help support the Team Rubicon housing expenses.
  4. Volunteer to help sort the donations

Putnal & Wood Families:
We would like to thank you for your expressions of love and sympathy in the passing of Diana Lynn "Putnal" Wood, our beloved daughter and her loving husband Mike.  We appreciate your prayers, cards, calls, and other kindnesses that you showed us during Diana's long illness and her passing.  We are grateful for each and everything you did to help ease our pain.  We know she is with the Lord now and free of the pain and suffering she endured for so long. Thank you to pastor Jason, Sam, and dear Peggy along with family members for making Diana's memorial service special to those of us who loved her.  Please continue to keep us in your prayers!

2021 MEMORY VERSE CHALLENGE

SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER

Our next Memory Verse Passage is Romans 5:1-5. We will start with verse one on 9/26.  We hope you all take on this challenge with us as we learn to hide God’s Word in our hearts!

Romans 5:1-5 (ESV)
1-"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."
2- "Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we[ rejoice in hope of the glory of God."
3 "Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,"
4- "and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,"
5- "and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."

    MISSIONS COUNCIL NEWS

ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES (ESOL)

Our Wednesday night English classes for adults are growing! Volunteers are needed for greeting (6:25-6:45 pm) and classroom help (6:30-8:15). No teaching experience is necessary; just a smile and a heart to help others. For more information, contact Beth Beal [bethbeal65@gmail.com].

SPEAKERS OPERACTION CHRISTMAS CHILD (OCC)

Help boys and girls around the world hear the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ and receive a tangible expression of God's love through a prayerfully packed shoebox. You can even include a letter and photo with your gift. Children who receive these shoebox gifts are also invited to participate in a follow-up discipleship program. Through trained local teachers, they learn to follow Jesus and share Him with family and friends.

More information will be available in the foyer on Sundays, as well as empty shoeboxes if you need one. Filled shoeboxes should be returned to the designated area of the church foyer no later than Sunday, Nov 14. The Missions Council will deliver the shoeboxes to a local collection point.

SPEAKERS ECHO FOOD DRIVE IN OCTOBER

PRAY FOR MISSIONS:

PEOPLES OF MAHARASHTRA, INDIA.
(From Prayer IMB Prayer Points Magazine)
The Gadchiroli district is a very hard place to serve. One believer shared that they are “often targeted and either persecuted physically, excommunicated, or have false cases filed against them. Pray for the believers there; a kind of fear is there among them.”
