Friday, October 16: Special Events!

Join Us to Honor and Support the Amazing Work of the Home Birth Summit Collaborative!

The Foundation for the Advancement of Midwifery, home of The Birth Trust, invites you to join us for a fun, enlightening, and delicious evening, Friday night, October 16th. We will gather at the Seasons Grill, one of Albuquerque's best for fresh gourmet food. We will honor Prof. Saraswathi Vedam, the visionary behind the Home Birth Summit (HBS) and one of midwifery's preeminent researchers. We will also be honoring Albuquerque's own Dr. Larry Leeman, champion of mothers and midwives, and also a member of the HBS. This will be a time to connect with local and national supporters of the midwifery movement, to enjoy fabulous food, and to hear from Saras and Larry about the great work of the HBS collaborative. The proceeds will be equally divided between the HBS collaborative, MANA and FAM. Please come to support these leaders of change and their ground-breaking work.
Location: Seasons Rotisserie and Grill
Time: Friday Oct 16 7:30 - 9:30 pm
Purchase tickets here.

. . . and back at the hotel: An Evening with Sam Killermann

Join us for a lively post-dinner Q&A with comedian and social justice advocate, Sam Killerman, who is also the guy behind It's Pronounced Metrosexual, a one-man comedy show and blog about snap judgments, identity, and oppression. Sam participated in last year's MANA conference, leading two breakout sessions, and was so well-received we thought we'd invite him back to speak with the larger group about gender issues, justice, sexuality, and other topics that might pop up. Each $25 ticket INCLUDES a copy of Sam's book, A Guide to Gender, which is a full exploration of gender from a social justice perspective, with humor and comics sprinkled in. He'll be doing a book-signing after the talk. Light refreshments will be available.

Tickets for the event are on-sale NOW on the registration site, and will also be available on-site at the event (get your ticket now to ensure we have a book for you!).
