Dear members and friends,

We have started the year 2017 with plenty of changes in nature of future UK / Europe relations, but I am sure, as the Prime Minister Theresa May has stated already, these changes can bring fruitful business connections in future.
The Britons voted to shape a new future for the Great Britain, but they are clear about the fact the UK is a European country – Britain is not leaving Europe. It remains overwhelmingly and compellingly in Britain’s national interest that the EU should succeed, as it is in the interest of the British Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic to support its members and help you - our customers and clients, to succeed in the bilateral UK/SK business environment.

We are now in the process of planning our 2017 activities which will reflect the strategy of the DIT (Department for International Trade) with whom we will cooperate more closely in future.
Let me reassure you that we will continue to work hard for our members and business partners, helping you to boost  business, and make new business connections through continued support and individual services to meet your specific needs.

Yours faithfully,

Denisa Brighton
Executive Director
British Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic

Time for the Global Britain
In this short video, please have a look at the 12 priorities that the UK government will use to negotiate Brexit.
The UK vote to leave the European Union was no rejection of the European values we share. The decision to leave the EU represents no desire to become more distant to you, our friends and neighbours.
We will continue to be reliable partners, willing allies and close friends. We want to buy your goods and services, sell you ours, trade with you as freely as possible, and work with one another to make sure we are all safer, more secure and more prosperous through continued friendship.

We are leaving the European Union, but we are not leaving Europe.
We want to outline our objectives for the negotiation ahead: a new, positive and constructive partnership between Britain and the European Union.

Simplified Joint Stock Company

Starting on 1 January 2017 Slovak law implements an option to establish a simplified joint stock company (in Slovak jednoduchá spoločnosť na akcie). This new company type is considered a hybrid company combining elements of a limited liability company and a joint stock company. Despite the similarity in the name and the fact that many regulations relating to the joint stock company also apply to simplified joint stock company, it cannot be considered as a subtype of a joint stock company, since there are numerous differences and limitations compared to a standard joint stock company.
The simplified joint stock company has been added to the list of available company types as a response to the need for a more flexible company. It is expected that this change will increase the support for start-ups and help facilitate growth of technologically focused companies in Slovak Republic.
