The 3rd Annual Warrior Beach Week will take place September 8-13, in Bethany Beach, Delaware.

Memorial Day Weekend

May is the month that gardens start to grow and we begin to look forward to the summer. Memorial Day Weekend marks the beginning of summer for many but it is also a time to reflect, honor, and remember that men and women died to give us the very freedom and peaceful life we have in the United States. Memorial Day, celebrated on the last Monday of May, is a time to honor all Veterans who served and are still serving to keep us free. Operation SEAs the Day is a community based effort to honor, remember and thank our brave warriors. We will be forever grateful for these heroes and we will never forget the continued sacrifices made, by both our military and their families, in order to make our way of life possible.

Operation SEAs the Day Mission:

To organize and facilitate a beach week event for our wounded soldiers and their families as a means of showing our appreciation for their service and sacrifice. It is our hope that such a community-based gesture of support will be comforting and help ease their transition back into civilian life.

Stay in touch throughout the summer by connecting on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest information on Operation SEAs the Day!

Poster Pal Project Continues in 2015

Poster Pal Project began last year as an idea to extend the appreciation beyond the week of Operation SEAs the Day. Throughout the summer, visitors and others in the community could make posters welcoming and sending messages of thanks to the Very Important Families (VIFs). How surprised and happy the Warrior Families were to see so many welcoming posters as they arrived in Bethany Beach and throughout the week during 2014, including the Heroes Welcome at Freeman Stage and the Farewell Brunch. There were big SMILES when they selected their favorite posters to take home after the Farewell Brunch 2014!

Poster Pal Project is back in 2015! These posters reinforce how grateful our community is for their service and sacrifices. Some welcome posters have already been completed by a local Elementary School! Poster Pal Project will be stationed at the Bethany Beach Farmers' Market on weekends until our supply of posters has been completed.

Quilts of Valor

Several local groups have already started working on the quilts of valor that will be presented to our 2015 Warrior Families. The Serendipity Quilt Shop will collect and finish the Quilts of Valor over the next several months.  Anyone interested in supporting this effort is welcomed to join in on the “Quilt of Valor Days” at the Serendipity Shop. The Shop has all the materials and sewing machines needed for this effort -- and they will show you how to sew a straight line if you have not done so before! Many Soldiers from Dover join in on this effort and it's a lot of fun.  So mark your calendars for July 11th for the next “Quilt of Valor Day” at the Serendipity Shop.  Don’t miss a fun time!  Anyone welcome!

Another Spin-off: A family friend will be hosting wounded warrior families in Rehoboth on weekends beginning now through the fall.  It just happens that the house would be available this year and they thought the best use would be to let Wounded Warrior families use the home.  He heard about OSTD through a friend very involved with OSTD.

OSTD to be in July 4 Parade! Operation SEAs The Day will have a float in the Bethany Beach July 4, 2015, parade. Design ideas and creativity are hard at work for the first float honoring our Wounded Warriors.

National Guard Support Continues: The Delaware National Guard will again help OSTD in any way they can. They will volunteer prior to the event and during the event. The National Guard looks for ways to provide community service and the OSTD event is really special to them! We are thankful for their continued support and service to our community.
