A few months ago, the Berggruen Institute decided to award me its annual prize for my contributions to the field of philosophy, including my work in effective altruism. The honor included a very generous US$1,000,000 award, all of which I will be giving away to charity.
I plan to give away US$100,000 of this award to three of The Life You Can Save’s recommended charities based on a public vote. The charity with the most votes will receive US$50,000, the second place charity US$30,000 and the third place charity US$20,000.
Voting begins today, December 15th, and will remain open until early 2022. I hope you’ll take a moment to show your support for your favorite effective charities recommended by The Life You Can Save. When you cast your vote, you’ll also have a chance to enter a drawing to join me in an online discussion with other participants.
