This month we spoke to two new CSD members, we wanted to hear what they thought about the design industry, what got them into it and requested some words of wisdom for those just starting out. James and Emma describe their career and outline what they look for in design graduates and student placements, as well as some advice based on their experience.
James Farnell MCSD
James started his design journey in 1988 at Harrogate College of Art and Design where he completed an Art and Design Diploma; he then went on to study Furniture and Product Design at Kingston University. Since then James has lived and worked all over the world and has over 20 years’ experience in the design industry, many successful projects under his belt and is the Creative Director at Little, a brand experience and architectural consultation studio based in Orange County, California.

Emma Clayton MCSD
Graphic Designer Emma Clayton studied Graphic Design at the University of the West of England and is now an in-house designer for The Pensions Regulator in Brighton. We wanted to find out about how she views her career and the graphic design industry.
