Saturday 26th – Sunday 27th June 2021 £149 Per person (£50 deposit per person due now – balance due April 2021)
Join us on this great weekend break – enjoying a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of life ! The Norfolk coast and countryside is a truly special place of unspoilt charm and natural beauty- with its wonderful scenery, spectacular coastline and of course the Norfolk Broads. Discover this region with a visit to the pretty town of Wells Next the Sea and a nostalgic railway journey from Aylsham to Wroxham, culminating in a cruise on the Broads.
After a morning departure from the Essex area, we shall head towards the North Norfolk Coast – stopping at Wells Next the Sea - one of the most attractive towns on the North Norfolk Coast. From the long sweeping beach bordered by pine woodland, along the gentle harbour with small fishing boats and children fishing for crabs, past the independent shops on Staithe Street, to the tree-lined park with its fine Georgian houses, quiet pubs and restaurants - Wells is an unspoiled seaside destination, waiting to be discovered.
Between the quay and the beach there’s a scenic walk with stunning views of the harbour and salt marshes, and a 10¼” gauge miniature train – perfect for carrying tired legs back to town ! (charges apply). Running just under a mile between the town and the beach, the Wells Harbour Railway departs every 20 minutes throughout the summer months.
Late afternoon, we shall head to our hotel just outside Kings Lynn for our evening meal and overnight accommodation.
After breakfast, we shall make our way to Aylsham to board the Bure Valley Railway for a nostalgic steam train ride through the picturesque Norfolk countryside. Your destination will be the riverside town of Wroxham at the heart of the Norfolk Broads .
The 9 mile journey runs through the pretty Bure Valley countryside following the meandering River Bure through meadowland and ancient pastures. Along the line, stops are made at the picturesque Broadland villages of Brampton, Buxton and Coltishall as you continue your journey to the bustling town of Wroxham. The journey between Aylsham & Wroxham takes 45 minutes. The coach will then meet us and take us to Wroxham Bridge where we will join our 1 ½ hour Norfolk Broads cruise.
On board the cruise, you will enjoy a commentary on the outward journey and have the opportunity to take in the beauty of the Norfolk Broads National Park as you return to Wroxham Bridge. We shall head back to the Essex area late afternoon.
