After a mid morning departure from the Essex area, we shall take you to Covent Garden where there will be free time for shopping and lunch before we transport you by coach to the stunningly beautiful St Pancras Renaissance Hotel.
An architectural masterpiece, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, and described by many as the most romantic building in London. It took a decade of restoration to uncover this Victorian masterpiece, which originally opened in 1873 to accommodate rail travellers through the St. Pancras Rail Station.
Your guide will greet you and London’s Gothic Masterpiece will be revealed !
The fascinating story of the hotel’s rise, fall and rise again is brought to life during a 90-minute historic journey through the most spectacular parts of the former Midland Grand Hotel. From the characters involved in its creation to the challenges faced by the restoration team, all of them help in bringing the extraordinary history of the building to life.
The tour covers all aspects of this truly historical hotel, from the unique stories about the Grand Staircase to why the Booking Office bar has 173 individually carved diamonds in the wood panelling !
