After breakfast – coach transfer to Penzance for those who have opted for the day trip the Isles of Scilly. Sail to the beautiful Isles of Scilly, with pretty St. Mary’s as our destination. Here you’ll find a tropical paradise – made up of white sandy beaches, exotic vegetation and scenery that’s simply unforgettable ! A day at leisure to relax at the hotel or join us on our day trip to Truro, Cornwall’s County town - where Wednesday is Market day. Mix with the locals on Lemon Quay and enjoy the buzz of the market, and maybe bag yourself a bargain ! In the afternoon, we shall make our way to the North Cornwall fishing port of Padstow. Centred around the attractive harbour, the bustling town is an eclectic mix of fisherman's cottages and merchant's houses. The success of the town can be attributed to its inherent charms but there is no denying that a certain celebrity chef probably contributed to putting Padstow back on the map. Three course evening meal and overnight accommodation.
After breakfast, we shall make our way to the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Thirty years ago, Heligan’s historic gardens were unknown and unseen; lost to the brambles of time since the outbreak of WW1. It was only the chance discovery of a door in the ruins that led to the restoration of this once great estate. Today, The Lost Gardens have been put back where they belong: in pride of place among the finest gardens in England. In the afternoon, we shall make our way to Mevagissey, an attractive harbourside village which was once the centre of Cornwall’s pilchard fishery and which still boasts a working harbour, with a few dozen small fishing boats. In the narrow streets are many gift shops, craft workshops, galleries, cafés and pubs. Three course evening meal and overnight accommodation.
After a leisurely breakfast, we shall bid farewell to our hosts and take a leisurely drive back to the Essex area, stopping en route at Salisbury to purchase lunch and stretch your legs before we continue home.
