A day at leisure to relax at the hotel or join us on our day trip to the nearby seaside town of Newquay. The beautiful beaches and the spectacular coastal scenery have made Newquay what it is today - Cornwall's premier resort.
Newquay was originally the fishing port of Towan Blistra before the new quay was built in the fifteenth century. The main town beaches are Towan, Great Western, Lusty Glaze and Tolcarne, all of which are reasonably sheltered and safe for swimming and relaxing on. There is an aquarium on the promenade of Towan Beach.
A great way to enjoy the town is on the Newquay Land Train (charges apply). The relaxing 5 mile open-air journey around the resort is made much more interesting by the conductor’s well-informed commentary which is around 40-50minutes. The fully flexible ticket and hop-on-hop-off service offers excellent value for money, allowing you a full day’s access to this fun form of alternative transport. The route for Newquay’s Road Train takes you past the wonderful Trenance Gardens and Boating Lake, through the centre of town and venture back past Newquay’s stunning beaches. The road train allows you to visit north, south, east and west of the town without climbing any hills and, having listened to the conductor’s commentary, you will know more about Newquay than most locals. It’s not just a fun around-town ride, it’s a Newquay experience ! Three course evening meal and overnight accommodation.
After breakfast, we shall head to Cornwall’s Northern Coast - through St Agnes, Portreath and Gwithian to St Ives, one of Britain’s most picturesque towns. A regular and inexpensive shuttle service runs the short distance from the coach park to the centre of this delightful town. St Ives is one of Cornwall's best loved destinations, and with obvious reason. The town is built on a narrow peninsula fringed with sandy beaches. Radiating out from the idyllic harbour are a maze of quaint cobbled streets lined with fishermen's cottages. And if all this wasn't enough, St Ives has a rich artistic heritage which is celebrated with many galleries from the small to the internationally acclaimed. Evening meal and overnight accommodation.
After a leisurely breakfast, we shall bid farewell to our hosts and take a leisurely drive back to the Essex area, stopping en route at Dorchester to purchase lunch and stretch your legs before we continue home.
