An open process to promote surgery as a public health measure
Welcome to the March newsletter of the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery!
The Lancet Commission on Global Surgery Rural India Regional Meeting was hosted at Jan Swathya Sahyog on March 1, 2014 with both live participants and through conference call. Consensus Recommendations were developed for the Commission. The Commission was also presented and discussed at the annual meeting of the West African College of Surgeons in Kumasi, Ghana and the 1000+ OBGYN conference in Accra, Ghana. Our efforts to reach out to the surgery, obstetrics and anesthesia communities continue.
Keep an eye out for our upcoming regional meetings. The Alliance for Anesthesia and Surgery Presence hosts the next one in Singapore on May 5th.
The 2nd Commission meeting is scheduled for June 19th and 20th in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The majority of participants will be providers and stakeholders from low- and middle-income countries.
