Dear All,

I hope January has been treating you well.

It has been a busy time for me in Lima. I have been working on a few new things lately, including an online group reflection session on What Are Your Superpowers? and my first local Walk & Talk.

In addition, if you are looking to bring more consistency into your professional goals this year, you can still book the one-year Intentional Career Journey programme until the end of January. Feel free to email me if you have any questions!

In the meantime, I would like to invite you to pause and reflect on something important:

What Are Your Superpowers?

Last year in Nepal, a colleague and I were designing a workshop for high school students to help them reflect on their skills and strengths. We intuitively started with a “SWOT” analysis—but soon realised that superpowers might be more engaging and memorable!

The idea stayed with me. I began looking into superheroes and how they develop their abilities. Until recently, the only superhero I really knew was Superman (don’t blame me or my culture…blame my parents).

So, let me ask you:

Who is your favourite superhero? Where do they get their superpowers from?

I would like to share a few simplified examples here:
  • Superman was born with extraordinary abilities—but it was the new context (living on Earth) that made those abilities exceptional.
  • Spiderman acquired his powers by accident, then used his intelligence and technology to develop them responsibly.
  • Batman experienced a trauma; and relied on discipline, focus and hard work to master his skills.
A superpower is an exceptional advantage—something that expands what you can do.

What skill or trait could you turn into a superpower?

Back to you!
